How to Use Ceramic Varnish Sealant to Protect Your Car
Using ceramic varnish sealant to protect your car gives you an easy and affordable way to keep it looking great. You only need one or two bottles per year, depending on the type of varnish you use, so even if you choose the more expensive option, you’ll still end up saving money in the long run by not having to take your car in to be professionally detailed as often. Be sure to follow the directions below, though, or you won’t get the same great results!
What ceramic varnish sealer can do
Caring for cars is a passion of many, but it’s not always easy to figure out how you can help your car stay beautiful. With ceramic varnish sealer, though, it’s easier than ever. This product has some pretty nifty benefits that make protecting your vehicle a whole lot easier. What does ceramic varnish sealer do? It seals and protects paintwork and other surfaces from UV rays, which can cause paintwork to fade or even crack over time. It also helps protect against salt and moisture damage by creating a barrier between these elements and your paintwork. Plus, it creates an invisible layer that makes cleaning easier because dirt doesn’t stick as easily to surfaces treated with ceramic varnish sealer. Because it dries quickly after application, applying ceramic varnish sealer only takes about 15 minutes per panel on average!
Which application methods are possible
With a special sponge or microfiber cloth, apply thin and even layers of Koch Chemie ceramic lacquer sealer. The product can be applied directly over all painted surfaces, plastic and chrome parts, glass (except windshield), rubber, PVC materials, etc. Apply additional layers if necessary after 1-2 hours until a visible shine is achieved. Koch Chemie recommends an application rate of approx 2ml per sqm/liter of coating film thickness at a temperature between 8–24°C (46-75°F). Avoid applications in direct sunlight or under high temperatures >40°C (104F). After applying thin layers ensure that each coat dries for 10 minutes before applying further coats – drying time depends on temperature and air circulation within the room.
Formulation examples
A freshly prepped and cleaned car is ideal. Mix a 1:1 ratio of Koch Chemie Ceramic and Koch Chemie Spray Lacquer and apply in a back-and-forth, zigzag motion with a microfiber applicator. Allow product to cure for 48 hours before exposure to water or heavy rain conditions. Light surface scratches may be removed during application; however, Koch Chemie recommends applying when scratching-free for best results.

In addition to using ceramic varnish sealant on your vehicle’s exterior, you can also use it inside your home or office! Ceramic varnish sealant protects against spills and stains while adding a layer of glossy shine wherever it’s applied. Try spraying it on tabletops, furniture legs, and bathroom fixtures like sinks and tubs!
Possible uses and precautions
Koch Chemie ceramic lacquer sealants are a bit different from traditional waxes or carnauba-based products. A one-time application of these varnishes will last for about 12 months in dry and humid conditions. The benefit is that you only have to apply it once, but that’s also why it takes so long to apply. This stuff is difficult to remove from your fingers, let alone wheels and underbody components if you get some on them. Make sure you’re in a well-ventilated area and wear gloves when applying it because you may need to re-do small sections if you don’t do them properly on your first try.
Application process
Apply a thin layer of ceramic lacquer sealer with a clean cloth. Apply another layer if required and allow time for it to dry before use. Do not leave your car in direct sunlight after applying these products. After you have applied them, keep them off your dashboard or other areas of your interior. If any product gets on these surfaces, clean immediately with a wet cloth to avoid damage or discoloration. If you decide to reseal rims, which we do not recommend without proper training as many factors can make doing so difficult and harmful, be sure they are completely clean before applying sealant again; ensure you allow ample drying time between applications and apply using soft cotton gloves.
Safety datasheet
The MSDS is a reference for basic information regarding the safe use of chemicals. It is useful for emergency response in case of chemical spills and fires, and to avoid potentially lethal exposure when handling chemicals. In addition, most MSDS contain important health and safety information regarding their proper handling and disposal. The SDS generally gives information on physical properties (melting point, boiling point, flash point), health hazards (toxicity data), reactivity data (including stability of hazardous reactions), storage/handling procedures, spill treatment methods, and protective equipment recommendations.
Shelf-life/Storage conditions
To maintain long-term gloss and shine on your ceramic sealer, do not store it in direct sunlight, or at temperatures above 50°C (122°F). The interior of a car’s engine compartment is typically too hot for storage. A good alternative is an airtight plastic storage container. You must apply ceramic lacquer sealants within six months of purchase to ensure they are still effective. After six months, wrap unused products tightly in aluminum foil or other heavy material before putting them back into storage.
Hazards identification
Make sure that you don’t use metallic particles such as steel wool or fine grit, otherwise, they will scratch your vehicle. Also, ensure that all of your surfaces are free from contaminants such as dirt and grease. Inspect for missing or badly corroded fasteners and fill any holes with body filler or wood putty. These preventative measures can help you avoid expensive repairs down the road. A large number of ceramic varnishes out there today use hazardous substances in their composition, which can be harmful to health if misused. The ceramic lacquer seal test is quite effective in evaluating a product and taking precautions against hazardous chemicals in cases where they are used by manufacturers.
